This counselling skills course is aimed at church leaders, ministry teams and those with a heart to help others

The course will take a particular approach to counselling, which is, wherever possible, to discover the way the Bible teaches us to handle a variety of common problems and difficulties.

The course will involve teaching, practical exercises, discussion, Bible study and prayer.

Topics covered include:

  • Understanding mental health
  • Christian counselling – its aim and method
  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Trauma
  • Anger
  • Eating disorders, addiction, abnormal illness behavious

You will be encouraged to be open and honest—having a good sense of humour will help!

Dr Keron Fletcher served in the Royal Air Force for 16 years, initially as a GP then as a consultant psychiatrist. For 20 years he worked in the NHS as a consultant addictions psychiatrist in Shropshire, Powys and South Staffordshire. He was the Secretary of the Addictions Faculty of the Royal College of Psychiatrist and Chairman of the UK Regional Representatives for addictions psychiatry. For 13 years he conducted clinics for the charity Combat Stress providing care for psychologically traumatised military veterans. Keron is an elder at Shrewsbury Evangelical Church.
